First, check the belt tension and condition. A loose or worn belt can cause issues with the alternator. Next, test the battery voltage and make sure it is at least 12.6 volts. If it is low, charge or replace the battery. Then, use a multimeter to test the alternator output. It should be around 14 volts. If it is significantly lower, the alternator may need to be replaced.

Before replacing the alternator, check the connections and wiring. Loose or corroded connections can also cause issues. If everything looks good, it may be time to replace the alternator. You can do it yourself or take it to a mechanic.

Another possibility is a faulty voltage regulator. This can be replaced separately from the alternator. If you are comfortable with electrical work, you can do it yourself. Otherwise, take it to a mechanic for replacement.
