How to troubleshoot engine misfiring in a Vauxhall Astra?

I have a 2015 Vauxhall Astra and recently I've been experiencing engine misfiring. The car starts up fine but after a few minutes of driving, the engine starts to misfire and the car starts to lose power. I've checked the spark plugs and they seem to be in good condition. What could be causing this issue and how do I fix it?

Hi Laura, engine misfiring can be caused by a few different issues. One common cause is a clogged fuel injector. Try using a fuel injector cleaner to see if it improves the issue. If not, it could be a faulty ignition coil or a problem with the engine's timing. I would recommend taking your car to a mechanic for a diagnostic check to pinpoint the exact cause.

Hey Laura, have you checked the air filter? A dirty or clogged air filter can also cause engine misfiring. I would suggest replacing the air filter and see if it makes a difference. If not, then it could be an issue with the fuel pump or pressure regulator. Again, a mechanic would be able to diagnose the problem accurately.

Hi Laura, another possible cause of engine misfiring could be a failing oxygen sensor. This sensor helps regulate the air-to-fuel ratio and if it is faulty, it can cause the engine to misfire. It's best to have a mechanic check the sensor and replace it if necessary.
