Why is the power steering in my Vauxhall Mokka not working?

I recently noticed that the power steering in my Vauxhall Mokka is not functioning properly. Whenever I try to turn the wheel, there is a noticeable resistance and it requires more effort to turn the car. What could be causing this issue and how can it be fixed?

One possibility could be a low power steering fluid level. Check the fluid reservoir and if it is low, top it up to the recommended level.

Another potential issue could be a faulty power steering pump. If the pump is failing, it will not provide enough pressure to assist with steering. Take the car to a mechanic to have it checked and replaced if necessary.

It is also possible that there is a problem with the power steering belt. If the belt is worn or loose, it can cause issues with the power steering system. A simple inspection and replacement of the belt can solve the problem.

Lastly, it is important to regularly check and maintain the power steering system as recommended in the car manual. Neglecting maintenance can lead to problems with the power steering, among other things.
