How to troubleshoot a brake issue on a Vauxhall Astra?

I have been having trouble with my brakes on my Vauxhall Astra and am not sure how to address the issue. The brakes feel spongy and take longer to engage. What could be causing this and what steps should I take to fix it? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Rachel, it sounds like you may have air in your brake lines or a leak in the brake system. I would recommend bleeding the brake lines and checking for any leaks. Be sure to use the right brake fluid for your vehicle. If the issue persists, it may be best to have a mechanic take a look.

Hi Rachel, another possibility could be worn brake pads or rotors. I would suggest checking the condition of your brake pads and rotors and replacing them if needed. This could help improve the responsiveness of your brakes. Let me know if you have further questions.

Rachel, have you recently changed your brake fluid or had any other maintenance on your brake system? If so, it could be a simple issue of not properly bleeding the brakes or not using the correct brake fluid. Double check these things and see if it helps.
