How to diagnose engine problems in a Vauxhall Vivaro?

I've been having issues with my Vauxhall Vivaro's engine lately. The engine seems to be running rough and the check engine light keeps coming on. I'm not sure where to start when it comes to diagnosing the problem. Any advice?

Hi John, sorry to hear about your engine troubles. A rough running engine and intermittent check engine light can be indicators of various issues. First, I would recommend checking the engine's spark plugs and wires, as well as the air filter. These can often be the root cause of engine issues. If those components check out, it may be necessary to bring the vehicle to a mechanic for a more thorough diagnosis.

Hi John, another common issue with the Vauxhall Vivaro's engine is a faulty EGR valve. This can cause rough running and a check engine light. I would suggest having the EGR valve inspected and possibly replaced if necessary. It's also a good idea to regularly clean the EGR valve to prevent future issues.

Hi John, in addition to the above suggestions, it's important to regularly maintain your Vauxhall Vivaro's engine. This includes changing the oil and filter, as well as checking and replacing any worn out belts or hoses. A well-maintained engine is less likely to develop issues and will last longer overall.
