How does the automatic start/stop function work in the Vauxhall Mokka?

I've noticed that my Vauxhall Mokka has an automatic start/stop function, but I'm not sure how it works. Can you explain the technology behind it and how to best utilize it?

Hi Ashley, the automatic start/stop function in the Vauxhall Mokka is designed to help improve fuel efficiency. Essentially, when your car is idling at a red light or in heavy traffic, the engine will shut off to save fuel. Once you release the brake pedal, the engine will start up again automatically. To get the most out of this technology, try to avoid using heavy accessories, such as air conditioning or heated seats, while the engine is off.

Hey Ashley, the automatic start/stop function can also be turned off if you're in a situation where you don't want the engine to shut off, such as in stop-and-go traffic. Simply press the deactivate button located on the center console. However, I would recommend using the function whenever possible to help reduce emissions and save fuel.

Hi Ashley, it's important to keep in mind that the start/stop function will not work if the engine is not up to operating temperature or if the battery charge is low. So if you notice that the function is not activating, it could be due to these factors. And if you have concerns about the impact of frequent start/stop cycles on your engine, you can always consult your Vauxhall dealership for more information.
