To check your Vauxhall Astra's oil level, park on level ground and wait until the engine is cool. Open the hood and locate the dipstick, usually labeled with a bright color. Pull it out and wipe it clean with a cloth. Reinsert the dipstick and pull it out again to check the oil level. The oil level should be between the minimum and maximum markers. If it is low, you can add more oil using a funnel and check the level again.

I highly recommend checking your oil level at least once a month, if not every other week. As your car gets older, it may use more oil and require more frequent top-ups. It's better to be safe than sorry and make sure your engine has enough oil to run smoothly.

If your oil level is consistently low, it may be a sign of a leak or a more serious engine problem. In this case, it's best to take your car to a mechanic for a professional diagnosis and repairs.
